THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Achieving affordable housing involves several steps. The application process depends on the applicant’s motivation, financial situation (their credit and savings), and flexibility with neighborhood preferences, among other factors.
Overall, the process of obtaining an affordable home can take anywhere from several months to two years, depending on your specific situation and the availability of affordable houses in your preferred neighborhood.
AFFORDABLE RENTAL
New Orleans is a majority renter city where the combined pressures of an aging housing stock, gentrification, and the proliferation of short-term-rentals have created an acute lack of rental housing that is accessible to low-and-moderate-income New Orleanians. Recognizing that stable, affordable housing is often a prerequisite for renters to progress on a path towards homeownership, People’s Housing+ is proactively developing a portfolio of climate-resilient, permanently affordable rental housing. Our organization currently manages two permanently affordable rental units, with seven more units in predevelopment.
While we currently do not have any units available to rent, this page will be updated with future opportunities.
